Luxury Villas in Miami Shores
Six-bedroom villas with heated pools in Miami Shores, a walkable village between Wynwood and Aventura. Quiet streets, ten minutes from the city. Book direct.
Miami Shores is a village municipality with its own government, its own country club and a tree canopy that does not exist anywhere else at this latitude in Miami-Dade. It sits between Wynwood and Aventura on the mainland side, close enough to Biscayne Bay to feel the breeze and far enough from the strip that nobody is spilling out of a club at three in the morning. The streets are wide and residential, lined with banyans and royal palms, and the centre along NE 2nd Avenue is genuinely walkable in a county where that word is usually a marketing claim. What this means for a stay: you get a real house on a real street, with a heated pool and a rooftop deck, ten to fifteen minutes from Wynwood's galleries and the Design District, and you sleep. Guests who have done South Beach once and found it exhausting tend to end up here on the second trip.
The Village Centre
NE 2nd Avenue and the few blocks around it, with the village hall, local cafes and the small-town civic feel that gives the place its name. Walkable in the literal sense, which is rare here.
The Bay Side
East toward Biscayne Bay, where the lots widen and the breeze arrives. Closest to the causeways across to the barrier island, so the quickest run to the beach.
Toward Wynwood and the Design District
South, and the reason a lot of guests choose the Shores at all. Ten to fifteen minutes puts you in the murals, the galleries, the Design District showrooms and the best of the city’s restaurant scene, then back out of it to sleep.
Barry University and the Country Club
The institutional heart of the village, with the golf course and the tennis courts. It is what keeps the streets green and the lots generous, and it is why the canopy survived the decades when the rest of the county paved itself.
What Miami Shores Is Known For
A genuinely walkable village centre, which is close to unique in Miami-Dade. Ten to fifteen minutes from Wynwood Walls, the Design District and the Miami restaurant scene, without living inside any of it. Miami Shores Country Club golf and tennis, in the middle of the village rather than behind a gate an hour away. Biscayne Bay and the causeways east to the barrier island beaches. Tree-lined residential streets with a canopy the rest of the county lost. A short run north to Aventura or south to downtown and Brickell, so the whole city is inside a half hour.
Best Time to Visit Miami Shores
The same South Florida calendar as the rest of the county: November through April is dry, warm and busy, with December through March the peak. The difference here is that the village does not empty out or fill up the way the beach does, so shoulder season is unusually good value. May and October stay swimmable with softer rates. June through September is hurricane season, hot and humid, with short sharp afternoon storms. Art Basel week in early December is the single busiest window, and it books far ahead precisely because the Shores is close to the fair without being in the scrum.
Getting There
Miami International (MIA) is roughly 20 to 30 minutes, and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) is 30 to 40. A car is expected: the village centre is walkable but the rest of the county is not, and the beach is a causeway away. Parking at the houses is straightforward, which is not something you can say about the barrier island.
How far is Miami Shores from the beach?
The village is on the mainland, so the beach is a drive rather than a walk, typically fifteen to twenty-five minutes east over a causeway to Miami Beach, Surfside or Bal Harbour. That distance is precisely what buys the quiet streets and the tree canopy.
How is this different from North Miami Beach?
Different trip. North Miami Beach is where the very large group houses are, nine bedrooms sleeping twenty, in a residential grid further north. Miami Shores is smaller in scale and more village-like, closer to Wynwood and downtown, with a walkable centre and a country club. Choose the Shores for proximity to the city and calm, choose North Miami Beach for raw capacity.
Is it close to Wynwood and the Design District?
Yes, and it is the main reason people pick it. Ten to fifteen minutes in normal traffic puts you in the galleries, the murals and the showrooms, and the same again brings you back to a quiet street.
Is it good for families?
Very. Residential streets, a real neighbourhood, parks and a country club, and houses with heated pools and enough bedrooms that nobody is sharing who does not want to. It is markedly easier with children than any beachfront option at the same price.
Will we hear nightlife?
No. This is a residential village municipality with its own ordinances, not an entertainment district. If loud nights out are the point of the trip, base on the beach instead and accept less house for the money.
Do the houses have pools?
The Miami Shores properties we list carry heated pools, and one of them adds a rooftop deck. Heated matters more than visitors expect: January and February nights get cool enough that an unheated pool in South Florida goes unused.
