Easter in Marrakech Villas

Easter is the best week of the year to be in Marrakech, and it is the week everyone else has worked that out too. Easter Sunday falls on March 28 in 2027, which puts the holiday at the front edge of the Moroccan spring: the gardens are in flower, the Atlas still carries snow on the high peaks, and the daytime heat has not yet arrived. It is the fortnight when the city looks the way people imagine it, rather than the way it feels in a July afternoon. It is also the fortnight when the good houses go first. Marrakech is the strongest destination in our search footprint, interest peaks in April with March close behind, and lead times here are short: most groups commit two to three months out, which means the best Palmeraie villas for the Easter window are decided in December and January. If you are planning Easter 2027, the honest advice is that autumn is early, winter is normal, and February is late. The ten homes in this collection all sit in and around Marrakech, most in the Palmeraie, the palm-grove belt north of the medina where the large villas are. Why spring, and what Ramadan changes

Marrakech has two difficult seasons and two very good ones. July and August are genuinely hot, hot enough that the day reorganises itself around the pool and the early evening. December and January are mild in the sun and cold at night, which surprises people who packed for a desert. Spring and autumn are the answer, and of the two, spring is the one with the flowers, the snow still visible on the Atlas, and the long clear light that makes the Palmeraie look like the photographs. Easter sits inside it. Ramadan is the one thing worth checking before you fix dates, and it is the thing most travel pages skip. Islamic dates follow the lunar calendar and are confirmed by observation, so they move earlier each year and cannot be printed as fixed. For 2027, Ramadan is expected to fall across February into early March, which would place Easter comfortably after it. We confirm against the calendar before we confirm your dates rather than assuming, because during Ramadan many restaurants adjust daytime service and the rhythm of the city changes, and a guest who was not told that is a guest we failed. If your dates do land inside Ramadan, it is not a reason to cancel. A staffed villa is the easiest way to experience Marrakech in that month: your own kitchen and chef run normally, the house keeps its own hours, and the evenings in the city after sunset are among the most memorable of the year. It simply needs to be a decision you made rather than a surprise you discovered.

The Palmeraie, and why the villa market is here

The Palmeraie is the palm grove north-east of the medina, and it is where the large villa market in Marrakech actually lives. The medina has riads, which are beautiful, historic, and structurally small: courtyard houses on narrow streets, usually a handful of rooms, rarely with a lawn or a full-size pool. If your group is six people who want to be inside the walls and walk to the souks, a riad is the right answer and we will tell you so. For eight, twelve or twenty people travelling together, the Palmeraie is the answer instead. The plots are large, the houses are built around pools and gardens, there is room for staff to work without being in your way, and the Atlas is visible from most of them. You trade walking distance to Jemaa el-Fnaa for space, quiet and a private pool, and you take a twenty to thirty minute drive into the medina when you want it. For a family group at Easter, that trade is almost always correct. A few of our houses sit in the golf belt rather than the Palmeraie proper, which suits groups who want a court or a fairway as part of the week. Neither is worse for being outside the grove; they are simply a different kind of week.

What a staffed Marrakech house actually gives you
